How do agents work in a team workspace?

Which workspace an agent belongs to, who can deploy, chat and manage plans in a team, Chat Mode, and moving agents between workspaces.

Each agent belongs to one workspace: your Personal workspace or one team. It opens only in that workspace, and My Agents lists the agents of the workspace you're in. A team agent's plan paid from a Wiro balance is charged to the team wallet. For teams in general, see How do organizations and teams work?

Opening a team agent

If you're in the wrong workspace, you'll see one of these:

  • "This agent belongs to a team. Switch to the team context to access it." Use Switch Workspace and pick the team.

  • "This agent is in your personal workspace. Switch to personal context to access it." Switch to Personal.

  • "This agent belongs to a different team." Select the team that owns the agent.

With the API, the project key decides the workspace: use the key of a project in that team to reach a team agent (see How do I talk to my agent through the API?).

Who can do what

  • Every team member can chat with the team's agents.

  • Deploying a new agent in a team needs a team admin. The organization owner is admin of each team they create.

  • Managing the plan (subscribe, renew, cancel, upgrade, buy credits) is open to team admins and to the member who deployed the agent. Others see "Only a team admin can perform this action on a team-owned agent."

  • Agent Settings, such as the timezone, the model and Chat Mode, is also open to team admins and the member who deployed the agent.

Chat Mode

Team agents have a Chat Mode under Agent Settings:

  • Collaborative, the default when an agent is deployed in or moved into a team: members share one web-chat history and the agent's memory, and approved Telegram, Slack and Discord users share one direct-message conversation.

  • Private: each member has their own web-chat history and memory, and each approved direct-message user has their own conversation.

  • Group, channel, server and thread chats always keep their own conversation, whatever the mode.

  • Saving a new mode restarts the agent.

Moving an agent to another workspace

  1. Open the agent, click Manage, then Transfer, and choose where it should go.

  2. You must be an admin of the team you're moving it to, and of the team it's in when moving it out of a team.

  3. Only the member who deployed the agent can move it from Personal into a team, or back to Personal.

The active plan and extra credits move with the agent, and the agent restarts. For a plan paid from a Wiro balance, future renewals are charged to the new workspace's wallet. Chat Mode resets: Collaborative in a team, Private in Personal.

Transfer messages:

  • "You must be an admin of the target team": ask an admin of that team to move it, or to make you an admin.

  • "Only the original deployer can transfer an agent to personal workspace": ask the member who deployed it.

  • "You don't have any teams where you are admin.": you can't move agents into a team yet.
